German businesses to promote investment cooperation in Ho Chi Minh City

Welcoming Mr. Philipp Rosler and businesses to visit Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Hoan stated that the presence of the delegation in Ho Chi Minh City to explore investment opportunities demonstrates special interest among the German business community for Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, helping businesses from both sides better understand the potential and opportunities for cooperation.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said that Germany currently has 244 investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City with a total registered capital of more than USD378 million, ranking 14th out of 122 countries and territories investing in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Mr. Hoan, the city is facing problems such as flooding, environmental pollution and traffic jams, as well as new global challenges such as climate change and problems relating to green growth. To ensure sustainable development following the trend of transforming the city's economy into green growth and digital transformation, the city needs experience sharing, support in human resources and technological solutions from German businesses, a country with strengths in science and technology, green growth, infrastructure, renewable energy and manufacturing technology.

“Ho Chi Minh City is willing to accompany the BWA's plans to promote cooperation with the city, committed to creating the best conditions for investment activities of German businesses, thereby contributing to promoting trade and investment cooperation, deepening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany," Mr. Hoan added.

Mr. Philipp Rosler emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City's priority development areas are also strong areas of German business delegation members.

At the meeting, representatives of some businesses in the delegation highly appreciated the business investment environment of Ho Chi Minh City and expressed their wish to promote and cooperate in investment with Ho Chi Minh City. In particular, businesses are interested in investing in innovation, development and building of the city's financial center, green transformation and digital transformation because these are the pillars of Ho Chi Minh City's development.
