Darwin Fusion 2026 strengthens Vietnam-Australia business ties
The event, taking place from July 10 to 12, has brought together representatives from government agencies, businesses and organisations from Australia and a number of countries, including Vietnam, the United States, China, Japan, Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
Opening the forum, Darwin Mayor Peter Styles said the second edition of Darwin Fusion reflected the city's commitment to strengthening partnerships with ASEAN member states, China and the Pacific region.
Discussions focused on ways to promote trade, investment and broader cooperation between Darwin, the Northern Territory and international partners, including Vietnam.
On the sidelines of the forum, Darwin city leaders expressed their desire to deepen cooperation with Vietnamese localities.
Mayor Peter Styles is expected to lead a delegation to Ho Chi Minh City in December 2026 to promote collaboration in education, innovation and trade. Darwin is also considering establishing a friendship relationship with Gia Lai province, with a view to developing a formal sister-city partnership in the future.
A highlight of the event was the Darwin International Trade Show, which featured more than 40 exhibition booths from Australian businesses and companies across ASEAN.
Through Vietnam's national booth, the Embassy of Vietnam in Australia showcased a range of key export products, including garments, sportswear and food products, to Australian partners and consumers.
In addition to promoting Vietnamese products, the embassy actively facilitated business networking and introduced Vietnam's potential in the Halal industry to partners from Australia, Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
