Dai-ichi Life pledges continued investment in Vietnam's insurance market

The commitment was made by Brett Clark, general director of Dai-ichi Life Asia Pacific during his meeting with Deputy Finance Minister Le Tan Can in Hanoi on July 22, as part of his working trip to the country.

Clark said Vietnam has played a pivotal role in Dai-ichi Life's regional growth strategy since becoming the company's first overseas market in 2007. He highlighted the country's strong long-term growth potential and highlighted the group's intention to deepen its investment while contributing to the development of Vietnam's financial and insurance sectors.

He added that Dai-ichi Life is prepared to share its global expertise in insurance product development, particularly in retirement insurance, to help meet Vietnam's growing demand for long-term financial security as the country's population continues to age.

For his part, Deputy Finance Minister Le Tan Can commended Dai-ichi Life and its Vietnamese subsidiary for their contributions to the country's insurance market, particularly in corporate governance, technology adoption and service quality improvements.

He noted that Vietnam is implementing its insurance market development strategy through 2030, aimed at building a modern, transparent and internationally aligned insurance market.

As part of the strategy, the government is encouraging the development of a broader range of insurance products, with a particular focus on retirement insurance to strengthen long-term financial protection for the public.

Can expressed hope that Dai-ichi Life would continue leveraging its international experience and financial resources to accelerate digital transformation, adopt emerging technologies and develop innovative insurance solutions tailored to Vietnam's evolving market needs, contributing to the sustainable growth of the country's insurance industry.

After nearly two decades of operations in Vietnam, Dai-ichi Life has built an integrated ecosystem comprising Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, Dai-ichi Fund Management Vietnam and the For a Better Life Foundation.

The company currently serves more than 5.2 million customers and their families nationwide, with its market share rising from 4.4% in 2006 to 12.5% in 2025.

Alongside its business activities, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has expanded its corporate social responsibility initiatives through the For a Better Life Foundation. Since its establishment in 2016, the foundation has contributed nearly VND95 billion (US$3.6 million) to projects in education, health care, environmental protection and community development.
