Vietnamese, Chinese youth seek stronger ties in innovation, digital economy
The event took place within the framework of the 2026 "Red Journey" Study Tour for Vietnamese Youth - Study Camp in the Footsteps of President Ho Chi Minh.
At the event, Luong Quang Huy, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, said as neighbors sharing historical and cultural similarities and development goals, Vietnam and China hold great potential for cooperation in research, training, knowledge transfer, digital and green economy development, and resolving shared sustainable development challenges.
He outlined three proposals to enhance bilateral youth cooperation: building young knowledge-exchange networks connecting young officials, researchers, lecturers, and students; stepping up experience sharing in digital governance, digital education, green economy, and innovation policies; and promoting joint youth initiatives to resolve specific issues.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Pha, Secretary of the Youth Union of Can Tho University, stated that innovation sharpens critical thinking, interdisciplinary skills, and complex problem-solving capacity, preparing young human resources for global competition. International cooperation, he noted, enables young people to access advanced knowledge and cutting-edge technologies, improve global integration skills, mobilize financial resources and research infrastructure, and jointly address regional and global challenges.
From the medical sector, Tieu Van Luc, a radiation oncologist at K Hospital, showed impression with the establishment of the Vietnam International Skilled Worker Academy by Guangxi Liugong Group, Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College, and Hanoi College of Electromechanics. He said that this initiative demonstrates that technological cooperation extends beyond equipment transfer to training the people who operate the machinery.
Recalling that Nanxi Shan Hospital in Guilin, Guangxi, received, treated, and donated blood for wounded Vietnamese soldiers nearly 60 years ago, Luc emphasized that while past generations were bound by blood and medicine, today’s generation has the opportunity to continue that bond through knowledge, data, and technology to co-create the future.
Sharing his views, Pang Qiwen, Production Director at Transmissions Component Co., Ltd. under Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co., Ltd., expressed hope that amid impending trends of digitalization and intelligent manufacturing, young people from both countries will boost cross-border cooperation to advance modernization in both nations.
Li Pingwu, a Level-1 technician at Wuling Motors, observed that bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and innovation offers vast space, particularly as China builds a manufacturing powerhouse and Vietnam accelerates industrialization and modernization. He voiced hope for more exchanges with Vietnamese youth and engineers to contribute to the joint growth of both countries' industrial sectors.
Liu Kun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Liuzhou Talent Group Co., Ltd., shared that Liuzhou is promoting emerging sectors such as AI and humanoid robotics. To capitalize on Guangxi's pioneering advantage in AI cooperation with ASEAN, he expressed a desire for exchange and data testing with ASEAN member states, including Vietnam.
Stressing that youth form the core force in innovation, Liu noted that Vietnam's manufacturing sector is growing strongly alongside an abundant young workforce and ample room for digital transformation and smart manufacturing. He expressed hope for increased tech exchanges and talent training between Vietnam and Guangxi, including Liuzhou, to actively grasp new technologies and build a bridge of friendship between the youth of both countries.
