Germany, Vietnam expand investment links and high-tech cooperation

The event was attended by Vu Quang Hung, member of the Da Nang Party Committee's Standing Board and head of DSEZA; Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, financial counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany; Rolf Schulze, President of the German-Vietnamese Association; and representatives of government agencies, business associations and enterprises from both countries.

During the event, DSEZA and ASCO Industries N.V. signed a cooperation agreement, marking a new step in strengthening ties between Da Nang and the German business community with a view to promoting future investment projects and technological cooperation.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, financial counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, described Da Nang as one of Vietnam's most dynamic growth engines. The city's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated to have grown by 9.52% in the first half of the year. She said the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany will continue serving as a bridge to help German businesses explore investment opportunities, establish research and development (R&D) centers or expand manufacturing operations in Da Nang.

The city's investment promotion delegation also highlighted Da Nang's potential and competitive advantages, emphasizing its favorable investment environment with reforms in administrative procedures, digital transformation and a business-friendly public administration.

According to DSEZA, following the merger with Quang Nam province on July 1, 2025, Da Nang now has greater room for industrial, service and logistics development. The city aims to sustain double-digit economic growth in 2026 and the years ahead, prioritizing investment in high technology, digital technology, supporting industries, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, and research and development (R&D).

One of the highlights of the event for German businesses was the Vietnamese National Assembly's decision to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, the first free trade zone in Vietnam. According to DSEZA, the zone is envisioned as an integrated economic hub combining manufacturing, logistics, trade, finance and technology, supported by dedicated mechanisms and policies to strengthen its integration into global value chains.

Reaffirming the city's commitment to supporting investors, Vu Quang Hung, member of the Da Nang municipal Party Committee's Standing Board and Head of DSEZA said Da Nang will assist German businesses throughout their investment and business activities through streamlined and transparent administrative procedures and a stable investment environment.

He noted that Germany's strengths in high technology, precision engineering and digital transformation closely complement Da Nang's development priorities, opening up broad opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Speaking to the press in Germany, Rolf Schulze said the timing of the event was particularly appropriate as Vietnam-Germany relations continue to develop on the foundation of more than 50 years of diplomatic ties and 15 years of the Strategic Partnership.

As global supply chains are being restructured and the geopolitical environment continues to evolve, he said more German companies are viewing Vietnam as an attractive investment destination. With its clear development strategy and new investment policies, Da Nang is well placed to meet the needs of German companies seeking new investment destinations in Asia.

As part of the event, representatives of DSEZA and Vietnamese companies, including Phytopharma and NewTechco Group, also presented their capabilities and cooperation potential to German partners.

Businesses from both countries exchanged views on cooperation opportunities in high technology, healthcare, supporting industries and innovation, contributing to expanded investment and business opportunities between Da Nang and the German business community.
