Indian businesses eye participation in Vietnam Spring Fair 2026
The interest was highlighted at an online conference held on January 14, co-organised by the Vietnam Trade Office in India and Vietnamese industry associations in textiles, footwear, leather and furniture, together with Indian partners. The event attracted representatives from more than 30 associations, chambers of commerce and major enterprises from both countries.
Speaking at the event, Bui Trung Thuong, Trade Counsellor and Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in India, underscored that the conference aimed to promote the Spring Fair to Indian partners while facilitating business connections between Vietnamese and Indian associations and companies.
He described the Vietnam Spring Fair 2026 as the first large-scale trade and cultural event of the year, offering international businesses early access to the Vietnamese market during its most dynamic period.
A key highlight will be a large B2B exhibition showcasing the full value chain of textiles, leather, footwear, furniture and handicrafts, from raw materials and machinery to production and global distribution.
Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, deputy secretary-general of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), said Vietnam’s textile and garment exports reached about US$46 billion in 2025, with a target of US$50 billion in 2026. She noted significant cooperation potential between Vietnam and India, particularly in raw materials, yarns, chemicals and sustainable inputs, which could help diversify supply chains and meet increasingly stringent global sustainability standards.
Chandrima Chatterjee, secretary-general of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), outlined India’s textile and apparel ecosystem valued at around US$170 billion, with exports of nearly US$37 billion. She said Vietnam and India are highly complementary across the textile value chain, with ample room for deeper cooperation in value-added manufacturing, technology application and sustainable development.
During discussions, representatives from Indian associations, chambers of commerce and businesses agreed that participation in the Spring Fair 2026 would provide valuable opportunities to connect with partners, explore cooperation and expand their footprint in the Vietnamese market, contributing to stronger Vietnam–India economic and trade ties.
The Vietnam Spring Fair 2026 is scheduled to take place at the Vietnam National Exposition Centre in Hanoi from February 2-8.
