Vietnam secures global leadership in cashew exports over 10 months
In the first 10 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 613,500 tons of processed cashew nuts, valued at $3.6 billion, representing an increase of 18.7% in volume and 22.1% in value compared to the same period in 2023.
As a result, the country’s cashew industry has not only maintained its position as the world's leading exporter of cashew nuts for many consecutive years but also reinforced the reputation of its brand in the international market.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the ten-month export value of cashews equals the figure for 2023. The cashew industry continues to hold the number one global position in the export of processed cashew nuts for nearly two decades now.
In the first 10 months of 2024, the export value of cashew nuts increased in all 15 main markets, with the highest growth in the United Arab Emirates market at 58.3% and the lowest in the Japanese market at 1.1%.
Vietnam's cashew export value reached a record high in 2021, with $3.63 billion, but dropped to $3.08 billion in 2022, and then increased to $3.6 billion in 2023.
According to the MARD's forecast, cashew exports in 2024 will set a record, expected to reach $4.3-4.5 billion.
"The United States, China, and the Netherlands are the three largest export markets for Vietnamese cashew nuts, accounting for 27.7%, 16.4%, and 9.4% of the total cashew export turnover in the first 10 months of 2024, respectively," the ministry stated.
