Vietnam wants stronger agro-fishery exports to China
The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is actively working toward enhancing trade cooperation with China to boost the country’s exports of agricultural produce.
Discussions have been held recently with the authorities of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province to facilitate trade through the Vietnam-China border gates.
Efforts are underway to gain approval for more Vietnamese businesses to join the supply chains.
The authorities have also worked on a proposal to kick off the export of fresh aquatic products via Yunnan’s border crossings, which could help alleviate congestion at the current border gates and streamline trade between the two countries.
Vietnam and China will collaborate closely with relevant agencies to establish and enforce food safety and sanitary standards for trading agro-fishery products. These measures are crucial to ensure the quality and safety of the exported goods.
Last year, the trade of agro-forestry-fishery products between Vietnam and China reached US$14.2 billion, a 12.7% increase compared to the previous year.
