Vietnamese and Algerian businesses expand partnership in construction and labour
Between December 6 to December 12, a Vietnamese business delegation including two enterprises operating in the field of construction and human resource supply (labour exports), namely Hanoi Construction Corporation and VINA-MEC HR Human Resources and Trading Joint Stock Company, held a working session with Algerian partners in a bid to accelerate the implementation of future co-operation activities.
This is the initial result of activities being carried out to strengthen connectivity and economic co-operation that the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Algeria have actively promoted in recent times.
In Algeria, the Vietnamese business delegation held specific meetings and working sessions with four construction partners and three labour export partners.
Bui Trong Truong, general director of Construction Joint Stock Company No. 2 - Hanoi Construction Corporation, said, "When we came here, we saw the potential and clear cooperation opportunities that bring benefits to construction enterprises in particular and society in general. We will try our best to turn these opportunities into specific tasks in order to carry out cooperation activities as soon as possible."
For its part, the labour export enterprise VINA-MEC HR Human Resources and Trade Joint Stock Company, with the support of the Embassy, held effective working sessions and discussions on collaboration with Algerian partners to provide high-quality human resources to work within the Algerian market.
Tran Hai Yen, general director of VINA-MEC HR Joint Stock Company under Bach Viet Group, said that moving forward the firm will seek to implement a number of construction and mechanical contracts with attractive salaries and good conditions in this market.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, VINA-MEC had a period of exporting about 2,000 labourers to Algeria to work.
Furthermore, during their stay in Algeria, the business delegation also explored the market for green tea, olive oil, dates, chocolate, and pastries, as well as meeting with other potential partners in this North African nation.
The businesses participating in this working group are among the first to proactively seek opportunities whilst resuming business activities in Algeria.
The enterprises participating in this working group are therefore among the first to proactively seek opportunities and resume business activities in the North African state.
Pham Ngoc Binh, a representative of the unit involved in promoting and organising the Vietnamese business delegation to seek business co-operation opportunities this time, assessed Algeria as being a very potential market with numerous opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises.
Moving forward, this unit will continue to connect businesses to help them learn and further develop the market.
Vietnam and Algeria have enjoyed a strong traditional friendship. However, due to the remote geographical conditions, economic development co-operation activities remain modest.
Last year, trade turnover between the two countries hit roughly US$300 million in 2023.
Currently, apart from the oil and gas joint venture that is operating and exploiting effectively at Bir Seba field, there are almost no major Vietnamese enterprises with business headquarters based in Algeria and vice versa.
The signing regarding the establishment of joint venture companies is opening up a new direction for promoting economic exchanges between the two countries, in line with the foreign investment encouragement policy that the Algerian Government is actively implementing.
