Vietnam needs more software engineers
Software engineers can earn 1,190 USD/month, which is high in Vietnam. However, the supply of human resources in the IT field has not met demand.
According to a survey conducted by TopCV with more than 2,200 companies and more than 3,000 employees in 2022, software expert was among the three most sought-after positions, but was also among the most difficult to recruit and retain.
TopCV’s Recruitment Market 2022 and Recruitment Demand 2023 Report predicted that IT, software, sales and marketing/and communication/advertising jobs are expected to continue to be recruited the most in 2023.
Another recruitment platform, TopDev, pointed out that the demand for software and IT human resources in Vietnam is on the rise. But the number of IT engineers is in short supply.
According to the Vietnam Tech Hiring 2022 market, the wave of foreign investment has brought many opportunities to the domestic IT labor market. IT companies in the region have entered Vietnam to recruit and build teams of IT engineers.
In addition, businesses in fields such as tourism, agriculture and real estate are involved in digital transformation and e-commerce. This has led to more demand for IT human resources.
TopDev’s report said the salary of programmers in Vietnam is between 350 USD/month (new graduates) and 1,190 USD/month for intermediate positions. Senior programmers earn salaries from 860 USD/month to 1,510 USD/month.
Management positions (5 years of experience or more) or higher have salaries from 1,410 USD/month to more than 2,300 USD/month, according to the report.
The Covid-19 pandemic has led to increased online consumer behavior, and as a result, businesses need more software and IT personnel to develop sales platforms. This was the primary cause for the sudden increase in the demand for IT personnel.
Notably, after the pandemic, due to changes in working habits, more programmers at foreign enterprises are needed to work remotely. Vietnamese programmers thus have many choices with better salaries and benefits.
In addition, the development of personal finance investment forms such as NFTs, blockchain and securities has affected the labor market.
